But Luna now just lies at my feet wherever I go in the house . She’s a true companion. I’ve long given up on focusing on things that aggravated me — intense prey drive, opportunistic door-bolting, and growling at a car door shutt ing six blocks away, to name a few.
She’s a good dog, with an ineffective owner

Some dogs have annoying hobbies like chewing. We don’t love them any less. After all, we have hobbies that annoy them, like fireworks and refraining from walks

Lying at your feet may be good. I had a foster who I often petted with my feet while I was at my computer, and then when I took her to my parents’ everyone was a bit weirded out when she’d come up to them and rub against their feet while looking for petting.

Aside from one or two important safety things to train for, I otherwise try to let my dogs be dogs as much as possible. Or one might call me a lazy owner who spoils his dogs. I think you’re a good owner.
Rin wouldn’t leave her crate for a few months
when I got her. At my old house I had a 2 acre fenced yard with an
outdoor kennel that I never closed the door
. Rin always hung out in the kennel. It’s taken years but a stable and loving environment does wonders. You’re a good owner.

Better than my
last Malamute that caught
frogs but
didn’t eat them. When I picked up the yard,
I jumped
every time I bent down expecting to pick up
poop and instead discovering
a partly chewed frog corpse.

Some dogs have annoying hobbies like chewing.
Just make sure there are always
appropriate chew toys available. GoughNuts and Nylabones
are your friend.

We have cats at our place, whose hobby seems to be ineffectually stalking crows and pigeons... but yeah nylabone and those Kong toys are the big hits with the MILs doggos
